Tax Manager (Netherlands)

We are looking for a Tax Manager Netherlands (fulltime, 36 hours per week) to join our Corporate Tax department. In this role you will be the Dutch business partner for tax, advising pro-actively on Dutch national tax (CIT, Wage Tax) and (international) VAT matters, managing related tax projects and support the Dutch Corporate Tax team on regional or global projects.

About the Corporate Tax department

The Corporate Tax department controls the Wolters Kluwer NV Group's global Corporate Income Tax (CIT) position. Our responsibility includes amongst others controlling, managing & optimizing the CIT charge and cash cost on a worldwide basis and within a legal framework (law, resolutions, tax treaties). Next to this, the team has an advisory role on all taxes. Our team consists of 34 people worldwide, of which 5 are based in our head office in Alphen aan den Rijn. As the Tax Manager Netherlands, you will be part of the Dutch team and report directly to the Director Corporate Tax Europe.

Your responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for the Dutch operations as their business partner for Tax
• Proactively provide Corporate Tax (VAT, payroll taxes, corporate income taxes, withholding taxes) advice to the Dutch operations of Wolters Kluwer
• Provide tax advice on Dutch (internal) reorganizations, tax audits, transfer pricing, structuring of mergers, acquisitions and divestments, etc., and ensure accurate implementation thereof
• Advise on daily questions from colleagues at the Headquarters and the business units
• Manage periodic return filings of VAT, Listing, OSS and dividend withholding taxes
• Manage withholding tax processes and compliance for the international interaction of the Dutch operations
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies and policies (with the Corporate Tax department team) to place Wolters Kluwer in the most effective tax posture
• Ensure, in partnership with finance staff of the Dutch operations, tax control framework processes for Dutch operational taxes (VAT, Payroll taxes) are up to date
• Identify Tax risks and advise plus implement requirements to minimize Tax risks
• Discuss Corporate Tax matters with the Dutch Tax authorities
• Collaborate with the finance staff of the Dutch operations
• Partner and work with outside Tax advisors on projects and ensure Wolters Kluwer is deriving the maximum benefit from those relationships
• Create Tax awareness and provide training within the internal organization
• Support the Director Corporate Tax Europe and the Tax accounting team in various regional or global tax projects.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor or Master degree in tax law / tax economics
• About 6-8+ years Corporate Tax experience, obtained at a Big 4 office and preferable also in-house at a (large) corporate
• Strong knowledge of and experience with Dutch taxation
• Generalist in Dutch corporate taxes with affinity for and interest in (international) payroll tax and VAT
• Actual knowledge base of tax laws and rules
• Fluency in both Dutch and English
