BaseClear offers a complete range of microbial genomics services for many applications including clinical trials wherein microbiome readouts are also part of results: metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, microbiome analysis and microbial strain characterization for regulatory approval.

We are the partner of choice for many leading brands in various biotechnology industries such as pharma, personal care and hygiene, consumer health, food industry and human and animal health in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond. We are also proud to be located in the heart of the Leiden Bio Science Park in Leiden, one of the leading bioscience hubs in Europe.

For our commercial department, we are looking for candidates for the position of: Business Developer(32 - 40 hours per week)

Job:

The successful candidate is responsible for lead generation & validation, new customer acquisition, and contract negotiation towards closure. The role requires both national and international travel to meet customers and to attend relevant conferences and business events. You will work as part of a highly motivated team of account managers, business developers, marketeers and scientists and be in constant contact with customers and external partners.

Profile:

You are proactive, outgoing, enthusiastic and result & growth driven and ambitious. You have a commercial mindset, enjoy negotiation and closing complex deals and are comfortable in discussion with multiple levels in our customer organisations. In addition, you have a strong network within the food, pharma and biotech market.

Our team and clients will benefit from a candidate with the following experience and characteristics:

  • You have completed BSc or MSc degree, preferably in a bioscience, biotechnology or medical disciplines.
  • You have at least 3 years of demonstrated experience in business development, market development, and new customer acquisition.
  • You have experience in the pharma/ biology market, and have a network in clinical trials.
  • You are willing to travel up to 50% of the time while working remotely as needed.
  • You are based in (or close to) Leiden.
